As part of the technology package, 2012 Volvo S60 NJ customers can get high-tech systems like Driver Alert Control and Lane Departure Warning.  Driver Alert Control works when the vehicle is moving over 40 miles per hour and monitors driver’s concentration.  Lane Departure warning alerts the driver when the vehicle has drifted out of a lane without actively using the steering wheel or turn signals.  In addition, the Intelligent Driver Information System (IDIS) will delay non-essential information (such as an incoming phone call) while in a difficult driving situation.  IDIS uses sudden jerks of the wheel or extreme braking to determine when the car is in an emergency situation.  After driving has returned to normal, all information will be displayed.  Similar to City Safety is Pedestrian Detection, which  will automatically cause the vehicle to come to a full stop if it detects pedestrians in its path.
